Mission Playground Destination Playground for Mission Residents

The Details

The new Mission Playground combines the best of what’s new and old. Located in San Francisco’s bustling Mission District, the new playground offers families a brand new Vortex Splashpad, renovated athletic fields, seating areas, and a renovated Landscape Structures playstructure. Edward Chin, landscape architect at the City’s Department of Public Works, designed both the original playground and the new park plan which now offers users a central plaza that functionally links the active elements of the new park, and provides accessible pathways of travel for visitors of all abilities. The Vortex Splashpad, which opened May 22nd, is already a popular destination for local families and for visitors who support local businesses. Splashpads are fun and easy to use for children of all abilities. Kids can activate in-ground fountains and bubblers during warm summer days. The entire park is scheduled for a Grand Opening on September 15th.
