No. California Veterans’ Home Sheltering Our Vets

The Details

Sprawling over 26 acres, the new 163,000 square foot California Veterans Home in Redding was opened for our military veterans earlier this Spring. The new complex is the first California Department of Veterans Affairs’ “person centered community”, consisting of smaller buildings grouped together to provide a residential environment. The $88 million project is LEED Gold Certified and provides 150 aged or disabled vets with residential, rehabilitative and healthcare services.

Ross Recreation’s Jon Bawden, working with project landscape architect, Kluber + Associates of Martinez, California, helped coordinate the design, production, and installation of twelve customized Classic Recreation shelters for the new Veterans Home. The Classic Shelters function as carports and structures for outdoor meetings and recreational activities. Three of the shade canopies were incorporated with the trash storage and cart charging station to provide a unique and cohesive aesthetic. With the stone surround and a simple post design, the Mesa shelters lend themselves to the craftsman style architectural detailing.
